201th Birth Anniversary
of Vidyasagar Observed in our School

L.L.H.S ,27th September, 2020 : Our school observed the 201th birth anniversary of Pandit
Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar with due grandeur. This programme was a weeklong
observation. The programme started on and from 20th September and continued
upto 26th September, 2020. It began with a morning procession. Then followed a
cultural function in remembrance of Pandit Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar. He was the
great social reformer, educationist, philanthropist and a key figure in Bengal
Renaissance. The function was inaugurated with garlanding the portrait of
Vidyasagar in the presence of teachers, students and some local educationists
and guardians. So, on the first day of the function our respected teachers and
also some students delivered impressive speeches on the life and activities of
Vidyasagar. It was a great lookback in the alleys of Vidyasagar’s life.
On the 2nd day, there was an essay
competition. Students from class V to VIll took part in one group and students
from class IX to XII took part in in another group. A lot of students
participated in the essay competition. The third day saw an exhibition of
photography of Iswar Chandra’s life and works. And on the fourth day our school
arranged a seminar.
The speakers discussed about
Vidyasagar’s contributions to Indian society, Vidyasagar’s social reformation
like widow marriage, educational reforms and his kind-activities were
highlighted. On the fifth day, some students of our school staged a drama on
Vidyasagar’s activity. On the sixth day, many students sang songs about
Vidyasagar and recited poems. And on seventh day some local educationists
attended the programme and also enriched us with their valuable speeches. Thus,
we celebrated the 201th Birth Anniversary of Vidyasagar and the entire
programme attained a great success.
