NOUN & KINDS OF NOUN
NOUN :- A Noun is a word used as the name of a person,
place or thing.
اسم وہ لفظ ہے جسسے کسی شخص مقام یا چیز کا نام سمجھا جا ئے
.اسے اسم کہتے ہیں
-: KINDS OF NOUN:-
Nouns are of five different kinds; as,
1. PROPER NOUN
2. COMMON NOUN
3. COLLECTIVE NOUN
4. MATERIAL NOUN
5. ABSTRACT NOUN
1. PROPER NOUN :- A proper noun is the name of a particular
person, place or thing.
A proper noun always begins with a capital letter.
Yasmin lives in Mumbai.
In this sentence, Yasmin is the name of a particular girl
and Mumbai is the name of a particular city. Hence, Yasmin and
Mumbai are Pronouns.
2. COMMON NOUN :- A Common noun is a name common to
each or every person thing of the same class or kind, not to a particular person or thing:
COMMON NOUN PROPER NOUN
girl (any girl) Yasmin (a particular girl's name)
boy (any boy) Saklen (a particular boy's name)
road (any road) M. G. Road(a particular Road's name)
book (any book) The Quraan (a particular book's name)
3. COLLECTIVE NOUN :- A Collective noun is the name of a group
of collection of persons, or things of the same kind:
Example : class, family, army, committee, team, government
federation, nation, crowd, etc.
4. MATERIAL NOUN :- A material noun denotes matter or
substance which can not be separeted and counted but it can
be weighted or measured.
Examples: gold, milk, iron, water, rice, meat, wheat, silver, coal, steel, copper, silk, etc.
5. ABSTRACT NOUN :- An abstract noun is the name of a quality,
action, feeling, or state.
Examples :
Quality : Goodness, Kindness, wisdom, bravery, honesty, etc.
Action : hatred, laughter, Judgement, movement, marriage, etc.
State : Childhood, sleep, leadership, slavery, infancy, death, etc.
